Principles of Education and Training

CTE TEKS - Implemented 2017-2018, adopted in 2015

Principles of Education and Training course scope and sequence within the Education and Training Career Cluster® summarizes the content to be taught, and one possible order for teaching the units of instruction. A brief description of each unit and the corresponding TEKS are included. This scope and sequence may be adapted or adopted by the local education agency.

Based on the House Bill 5 Foundation High School Program, the Program of Studies within the Education and Training Career Cluster provide helpful information, including the core courses and career-related electives in high school that will help prepare students for their career goals. These documents are designed for students, but can also be used by administrators, counselors, teachers, business and industry representatives, and parents.

In this lesson, students will evaluate personal career goals, identify various career opportunities within the Education and Training cluster, and assess required characteristics and skills needed for specific jobs or careers.

In this lesson, students will discover how you can combine and apply the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills that they are learning in the classroom and their personal skills to make a real difference in the community and the world.

In this lesson, students will work collaboratively to learn more about specific learning disabilities. Students will also produce an individual or group research paper and slide presentation that can be used to educate others.

In this lesson, students will investigate careers within the Education and Training career cluster and summarize, rewrite and report information on a specific career.

In this lesson, students will investigate careers in education administration, interview and job shadow a current education administrator, and understand the training and aptitudes of professionals in the field of education.

In this lesson, students will get introduced to the Principles of Education and Training as well as develop an awareness of careers in the Administration and Administrative Support, Professional Support Services and Teaching and Training career pathways.

In this lesson, students will explore possible personal lifestyle choices as well as the impact of their career choices on future lifestyles.
